FROM THE FAREWELL ADDRESS - PRECIOUS ADVICE FOR MANKIND

"Verily you will meet your Lord and you will be held answerable for your actions."
"He who has any trust should restore it."
"Neither is the son responsible for the crime of his father, nor is the father responsible for the crime of his son."
"Forbid from all the acts of paganism and I have made you aware of all ignorant act"
"Interest is forbidden."
"O People! Fear Allah concerning women. Verily you have certain rights over your women and your women have certain rights over you."
"O People listen and obey, though a mangled Abyssinian slave is your amir."
"Verily I have left amongst you the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Apostles which, if you holdfast, you will never go astray."
"And your slaves! See that you feed them with such food as you eat yourselves, and clothe them with the clothes that you yourselves wear."
"All of you belong to one ancestry of Adam and Adam was created out of clay. There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab and for a non-Arab over an Arab; nor a white over a black, nor for the black over a white, except in piety."
At the end of His speech the Prophet asked:
"O Lord! Have I conveyed Your message?" and the people answered from all corners, "Indeed so! Allah be witness."
"Let him that his present convey this message unto him who is absent"

Today, we need to ponder upon this Farewell Address of Our Prophet and bring it into our lives.

THE MERCIFUL PROPHET
Two rings of the helmet pierced His face when a non-believer injured Him on His head. Another infidel threw a stone at Him which struck Him in His face with the result that one of His front teeth was broken, His lips were injured and He fell on His side. He wiped the blood running down His face saying "How can those people prosper who have stained their Prophet's face with blood while He is calling them towards Allah" He prayed for them "O my Lord! Forgive my people for they do not know."

Our Prophet went through so much for us, just imagine His feelings when the actions and doings of the Ummah are presented to Him in His blessed grave.

THE PROPHET'S JOURNEY TO ALLAH.

THE START OF THE JOURNEY: - On Monday the twenty ninth of Safar in the eleventh year of Al-Hijra, the Prophet had a headache. His temperature rose very high. His total number of sick days were either 13 or 14.

THE LAST WEEK: - The Prophet spent the last week of His life in Aishah's(RA) room. During that period Aishah(RA) used to recite Al-Muawwidhat (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Naas) chapter 113 and 114 of the Quran and other supplications.

FIVE DAYS BEFORE THE DEMISE: - On Wednesday, five days before He passed away, His temperature rose so high signalling the severness of His illness. He fainted and suffered from pain. When He felt better He entered the mosque, sat on the pulpit and made a speech to the people. In which: -
1) He ordered the people not to make His tomb a worshipped idol.
2) He offered Himself and invited the people to repay any injuries He might have inflicted on them.
3) He asked them to be kind to the Ansars.

FOUR DAYS BEFORE HIS DEMISE: - On Thursday, four days before His demise, He recommended three things: -
1) Jews, Christians and polytheists should be expelled out of Arabia.
2) Delegations should be honoured and entertained in a way similar to the way He used to do.
3) As for the third the narrator said he had forgotten it. It could have been adherence to the Holy Book and the Sunnah or it could have been the performance of prayers and being attentive to slaves.

A DAY BEFORE HIS DEMISE: - On Sunday, a day before His demise, He set His slaves free, paid as charity the seven Dinars he owned and gave His weapons as a present to the Muslims.

THE LAST HOURS: - While the Muslims were performing the dawn prayer on Monday, the Messenger of Allah raised the curtain of Aishah's(RA) room and looked at the people while they were praying. The Messenger of Allah did not live for the next prayer time. He disclosed to Fatima(RA) that He would not recover from this illness and she would be the first of His family to join Him. He ordered the people to perform the prayers and be attentive to slaves.

THE PROPHET DEPARTS: - When the pangs of death started He brushed His teeth. There was a water container available at His hand with some water in. He put His hand in it and wiped His face with it and recited the kalimah:

As soon as He had finished His Siwak, He raised His hand or His finger up looked upwards and moved His lips. Aishah(RA) heard Him say "With those on whom you have bestowed your grace with the Prophets and the truthful ones, the martyrs and the good doers. O Allah forgive me, have mercy upon me and join me the companionship on high. Then at intervals He uttered these words "the most exalted companionship on high. To Allah we turn and to Him we turn back for help and last abode" and He passed away. He was sixty-three years and four days old when He passed away.
